Velotaxi has been the environmentally friendly mobility partner of the city of Frankfurt am Main since 2004. 25 CityCruisers transport up to 1,000 passengers per week between April and October. More than 50% of the passengers live in Frankfurt and use the friendly taxi service most frequently for short journeys, tours and to get from A to B without CO2.

E-bakfiets/electric passenger and delivery bicycles

E-bakfiets are electrically driven bicycles for carrying heavy loads within the city centre, e.g. for shopping at the weekend, visiting beverage markets or for a trip out with the children. They were launched by Konversions-Grundstücksentwicklungsgesellschaft (the property development company, KEG) to expand a transport sharing system based on electric vehicles to link the western areas of the city. This additional service offers residents an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to the car.

Pilot project for inductive charging of electric vehicles at Frankfurt airport 

As part of a pilot project, Lufthansa Technik is using an electric car at Frankfurt airport as an electromobility trial and is testing contactless charging technology. The trial is intended to provide information on the suitability of e-vehicles for everyday use.

The working group on traffic planning and public transport is part of Faculty 1: Architecture • Construction engineering • Geomatics at the Frankfurt am Main University of Applied Sciences. The hybrid buses in the Frankfurt network have already passed the 100,000 kilometre mark. If you add in the vehicles used in the cluster of routes in Offenbach-West, the total of five hybrid buses (Volvo 7700 Hybrids) operated by Alpina – Veolia Transport have more than 200,000 kilometres “experience” behind them.
